SEO hats

I was reading quite interesting article about black hat SEO and white hat SEO. These are different techniques adopted in optimizing a website for search engine. Timboy has written an interesting article about `Search engine optimization (SEO) from black to white`.

  1. Iam not an seo expert.. Just a novice in this field.

Liked the posts on SEO.But 1 thing?

Is a well written content optimised website, with appropriate tags, clean coding and design sure to rank the top in search engines?

Iam asking this because i have done the SEO for a website.( hehe its not the content but the black hat SEO that I did ).

The website has no good content and is full of errors. No good design or content optimisation. That was my first website for SEO, but ironicaly, the site is top in the google search for the keyword they specified.

And it was just though blogging and forum spamming. The site has 0 page rank. How is it possible?

Is there no technique that google has deviced to detect this kind of black hat SEO?

And hey 1 more thing, why dont you write a post on flash designs and graphics and its effect on SEO. that is a very less written topic.

And hey I think iam going to write a blog on SEO soon.

  2. Is there any special techniques that can be used to optimize a wordpress blog on my server for SEO. One issue I see is no way to change the title tags on each page, where it seems to take the blog name for the home page.
I have several hundred 600+ inbound links.
I have pinged Technorati manually and used pingoat as well as pingomatic every time I add a new blog.
There is plenty of content, about 30 articles.
What else can I do? What else should I do to optimize my blog?
