Backed Projects in Kickstarter.com

Over the past few months I had become an addictive backer with Kickstarter projects and so far I have backed 7 projects. For now I am patiently waiting to receive the project items I have backed so far. Trust me if you keep following the cool project Kickstarters as they come up with you will go bonkers and start backing projects everyday. These are some of the projects which attracted me and I have backed so far

1) UDOO – UDOO is a mini PC that could run either Android or Linux, with an Arduino-compatible board embedded. It is a powerful prototyping board for software development and design, it’s easy to use and with a few steps you can start using it and creating your projects with minimum knowledge. It merges different computing worlds in one; each world has its strengths and weaknesses, and all of them are useful today in education as well as Do-It-Yourself (DIY) and rapid prototyping endeavours. It is an open hardware, low-cost computer equipped with an ARM i.MX6 Freescale processor for Android and Linux, alongside Arduino DUE’s ARM SAM3X, both CPU integrated on the same board!

The power of 4 Raspberry PI + Arduino DUE functionality = UDOO

2) NFC Ring – The NFC Ring can be used to unlock doors, mobile phones, transfer information and link people. Best of all the NFC Ring glides right onto your finger – no updates, no charging, and no fuss.

3) Able-HD: The Portable DIY HD Monitor – Ever wish you had a second monitor for your laptop that is lightweight and can easily fit into your bag? This was my thought when inventing Able-HD. I often found that monitors are bulky, no matter how slim they claim to be. Today, most people choose to use a laptop, tablet or other gadgets. I currently use a laptop because it’s good with a mobile working environment, it’s portable and most importantly it fits in my bag. But how does it help with productivity? I usually have two or three monitors working in my office. It’s impossible for me to travel with my second or third monitor in my bag along with my laptop. Thus, the problem with a laptop is limited portable productivity. In this case, what if there was a monitor that weighed less than an iPad, with a 17″ inch screen and comes with HD 1080p resolution? A quality HD device can often times cost outrageous amounts of money, but Able-HD able to offer lower price!

The Able-HD is three times slimmer than any LED monitor in the market right now, but with the lowest price.

4) juiceBee – is the first portable charging and backup solution that combines a wall charger and a battery backup system – allowing them to dock and charge together or separately

THE UNIVERSAL 2-IN-1 USB WALL CHARGER+BATTERY BACKUP SOLUTION

5) SparqEE CELLv1.0: Cellular made easy (Arduino/Pi/+) – A tiny Cellular development board that gives you Wireless Worldwide. That means internet to anything anywhere!

6) Visionnaire – Fine Writing Instruments – This fountain pen was conceived for the writer, the designer, the entrepreneur, and the minimalist. It was designed for those who are passionate, creative, and aspiring. It is a fine writing instrument designed for the Visionnaire.

Chrome and Noir Visionnaire7) The Easy-Macro Smartphone Lens – It is the simplest, most convenient and easiest to use macro lens available for smartphones.  Its 4x magnification gives your phone’s camera close-up powers that you never thought possible and its unique, patented design means that it will fit on any smartphone available today (and tomorrow!) with or without a case.  It is also the only smartphone lens that stores in your wallet so you never leave it behind.  If you take photos with your phone, you need an Easy-Macro!

The First Easy-Macro Prototype

Plus I have a big wish list from Kickstarter. If any one interested in funding me to back the project I would love that 😉

Bose QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones

Today I received a special gift from my wife for my birthday. Guess it was? QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® headphones from Bose. Thank you so much and I am really enjoying every bit of it.

Highlights

  • The Bose® best headphones reduce noise across a wide range of frequencies
  • Enjoy music and movies with clear and lifelike sound
  • Comfortable, around-the-ear fit
  • Includes cable with remote for iPhone®/iPod® control, mic for hands-free iPhone calling
  • AAA battery: 35 hours average life
  • Ideal for frequent flyers

Full Spectrum Noise Reduction

They’re the best Bose headphones, period. QuietComfort 15 headphones feature exclusive Bose advancements in noise reduction technology. You hear less noise and more of your music and movies-with quality sound and a long-lasting comfortable fit. You won’t find this combination of benefits in any other headphone.

Bose technology at work

Within every pair of QC®15 headphones, advanced electronics use microphones inside and outside each earcup to sense the sounds around you-and reduce the noise. Proprietary ear cushion technology blocks some of the noise before it even reaches your ears. Together, these Bose innovations add up to a more enjoyable listening experience.

Relax with music – or without it

QC15 headphones also feature proprietary signal processing and TriPort® acoustic headphone structure for more lifelike sound-including deep low notes-from small, lightweight earcups. And when you’d rather relax without music, switch on QC headphones to simply reduce the noise around you, wherever you are.

Take calls. Take control

QC15 headphones come with a cable customized for select Apple® products. A three-button remote and microphone let you take calls on your iPhone and control music functions on other Apple devices. You can also purchase a mobile kit that lets your QC headphones work with other cell phones, too.

Welcome to a better-sounding world

When you fly with QC15 headphones, engine roar fades to a whisper. When you listen at home or at work, fewer distractions get in the way of your music. And when you want to stay connected, calls are just a button-press away. QC15 headphones continue to give you more of what you want to hear, and less of what you don’t.

QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones Highlights

  • Significant noise reduction across a wider range of frequencies. Proprietary Bose innovations use microphones both inside and outside each earcup to sense and reduce the sounds around you.
  • TriPort acoustic headphone structure, another Bose exclusive, features tiny vents in the earcups to enable a tonally-balanced audio performance-including reproduction of deep, low notes-from relatively small and lightweight headphones.
  • Active equalization electronically tunes the headphones’ frequency response, enabling outstanding audio performance.
  • Interchangeable audio cables, one for general use, and one just for select Apple products, offer greater convenience than permanently connected Y-cables.
  • Inline microphone allows for hands-free iPhone conversation and access to certain voice applications, such as VoiceOver and Voice Control, in other Apple products.
  • Inline three-button remote switches between calls and music, and controls volume, track selection and voice applications on select Apple products.
  • Advanced ear cushions use new materials in a proprietary design to establish a critical acoustical seal-helping to further reduce noise while providing a comfortable fit.
  • Fold-flat earcups rotate 90 degrees for easy storage and portability in the included case.
  • Slim carrying case helps protect headphones and accessories during travel.

Apple cable compatibility

The QuietComfort 15 inline remote and microphone cable is compatible with iPod nano (4th, 5th and 6th generation), iPod classic (120GB, 160GB only), iPod touch (2nd, 3rd and 4th generation), iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad and iPad 2, and Macbook (unibody) and Macbook Pro. The remote is supported by iPod shuffle (3rd generation). Audio is supported by all iPod models. Requires latest iPod software.

Unboxing Google Nexus 7 Tablet

Thanks to Dinesh, Today I received my new Google Nexus – 7  Tablet. Unpacking was fun but I don’t want to discuss more about. This is my first personal Android device please wish me luck 😉

Based on the inital experience I really love the form factor and it is very handy to use. Will post more in details after using it for couple of days 😉

Naviflix – One stop solution for movie lovers

About three months back we had this conversation in our office lounge after we had released an app for mumbaikar.com. What next ?

After a series of discussions we understood that so many of us @flipmedia were hard core movie buffs. Watching movies in the cinema was on the top of our entertainment list. From the list of suggestions, movie app scored number one. We had brainstorming sessions on what next and how can we go about building this app?. We did some rough sketches and kind of finalized on the final working version and it’s features.

Our creative team began their magic on the wire-frames and gave application the best look and feel. Technical team got final designs in few days and started working on the app code. Before starting the actual work we had to make sure that we did not repeat the mistakes we encountered during the first app production. Thanks to our creative team as they made our life harder with a nice but difficult to implement design.

Our challenge was to give the same look and feel and at the same time make the application responsive. Our creative team started working on the application icon. You can see how the logo got evolved

After working on the app for 5 weeks we completed the first version of Naviflix 1.0 and submitted to app store. Thanks to Google, Apple SDK Documentation and some great forums, without those references we would have been lost. After submitting the app we could not just wait, and we started testing it with our friends. They reported few bugs. We worked on them as fast as we could submitted version 1.1 to app store.

Naviflix Demo

Would like to hear your comments and suggestions on how we can improve the app. You can purchase Naviflix on the app store for USD 1.99
